Top Five Cheap Beers

1. Bud Light

Simple, yet classic. This is the staple beer of the seasoned drinker. Yeah, it is basically water, but you can also knock back a case and actually go to work the next morning. This is my beer of choice for everyday drinking, not too strong, not too expensive, it fits in so many categories. (89.8 cents per beer as tested)

2. Miller High Life

All right, let's get the formalities out of the way. Yes, MHL is a malt liquor. However, we in the U.S. have been trained to think that Malt Liquor MUST be bad because of the other malt liquors we see. (Schlitz, Mickey's, etc.) Not all malts are bad, as a matter of fact, MHL is pretty good considering. After all, it IS the champagne of beers (never sure what that meant) It is sweet, potent, but lacks any real character or flavor. The point of this exercise is, if you are going for bulk or to get the best buzz for the buck, MHL is your man. (66.5 cents per beer as tested)

3. Lone Star

You heard it here first folks. Lone Star is NOT BAD! It should take the place the Miller Lite, seeing as it tastes almost the same. (maybe a little more aftertaste) I am not sure if this beer is available outside of Texas, but I want to try to rid the theory that this beer is bad. Just give it a try, and you won't be terribly disappointed. (69.8 cents per beer as tested)

4. Icehouse

Despite it's clever disguise, another Miller product. No doubt meant to take on Bud head on, with all of thier vast array of beers, Icehouse makes the list for one simple reason: It's pretty good for the price. That's really it. It's drinkable, and cheap. It has also been known to help wean hardcore Coors Light drinkers off of the sickening product. God bless them. (71.5 cents per beer as tested)

5. Bud Ice

This is a pure college beer if there ever were one. Personally, I find them a little difficult to drink, but after a few, surprisingly they get better and better. All Bud Ice is basically is water and alcohol, 5.5% to be exact, one of the highest among domestics, especially in this category. (69.8 cents per beer as tested)
